1. INTRODUCTION

The Agriculture and Forestry Research & Development Center for mountainous Region (ADC) was established in January 14^th, 1991 Decision N⁰ 124/TCCB, approved by Minister of Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training and the Operating Certificate N⁰ 046, dated on March 25^th, 1993, signed by Minister of Vietnam Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. The center is a non-profit organization (Vietnamese Non-Governmental Organization –VNGO) which, operates by its dependent regulations, has own office, account and seal.

2. MISSION

ADC is a non-profit organization which operates on researches and technology transfers for sustainable development of local communities in northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam.

4. RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFERS

• Conducting research on the fields of Agriculture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Aquaculture, Climate change and Natural resource Conservation and Sustainable Livelihood Improvement
• Conducting impact assessment on socio-economic, environment of programs/projects.
• Hi-technology transfers on agriculture and forestry, animal husbandry, aquaculture, natural resource conservation, climate change and socio-economic development for mountainous region of Vietnam
• Cooperating with international organizations and donors to design, implement the research project for capacity building, voice-out empowerment and participation of EM in mountainous region on decision making process relative to EM.
• Conducting land and forest planning and natural resource management.
• Training on agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, aquaculture for local farmers as well as visualized documentations
