Faculty of Forestry

1. Faculty history

The Faculty of Forestry at Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry was established in the year 1986 which was formerly named Department of Silviculture. The Faculty is now training 04 undergraduate majors, 01 master's and 01 PhD program. In addition to regular training, the Faculty of Forestry also participated in training 02 non-regular undergraduate sector. Up to the present, the Faculty of Forestry is one of academic institutions of Thai Nguyen University offering higher education in forestry for Bachelor and Master of Sciences, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees.

Since its establishment, the faculty has implemented the overall tasks of the university's goals in training, research and technology transfer in North Vietnam in the field of forestry and forest resource management, ecology and biodiversity conservation, climate change, social forestry, agroforestry. The  Faculty of Forestry has now become a prestigeous institute for transfer of science - technology in the field of forestry for the Midland Provinces, Northern Mountains Region. The Faculty was honored to receive 02 merit awards from the Ministry of Education and Training, many merit awards from Thai Nguyen University.

2. Mission

The mission of the faculty is to provide training to qualified undergraduate and postgraduate, conduct of research and transfer of science and technology in the field of forestry, forest resource management and rural development, and to serve in the socio-economic development of the Midland provinces, Northern Mountains.

The Faculty of Forestry has successfully implemented many scientific research projects in the field of forestry, forest management, forestry land use planning, forestry seed selection and creation, management and land use practices in Agroforestry systems, land use planning of forestry, environmental services of forests and climate change ...

Annually, the Faculty has published dozens of articles in national and international publications.

From its establishment to date, it has implemented of state-level projects, department/province, hundreds of University and institutional levels theses.

There are many projects and techniques which were completely implemented at the faculty of forestry such as:

Alcohol yeast from plants - Authorized by Assoc.Dr. Dang Kim Vui

Termite protection - Authorized by MSc. Nguyen Viet Hung

Cultivation technique of native species like Canariumnigrumengler,……..
