Office of Academic Affairs
This office is responsible for managing, organizing and implementing the training, including plans, programs, learning materials, teaching organization and teaching quality according to the Ministry's training regulations, of Thai Nguyen University and its regulations have been issued.

II. Division of Undergraduate Training
1. Functions:
- The Office of Academic Affairs supports the rector manage academic affairs of the university.
- To advice (help) the university about the development strategies of teaching staffs, teaching quality; development strategy of professional education and training, educational programs, educational contents, learning materials, quantity and plans of recruitment (upgrading education, the Second University Degree , - Client contract education program(education on demand)) , regular training.
- To manage all activities relating to regular education include: educational programs, educational plans, educational contents, schedule; teaching allocation; evaluation of teaching quality and learning quality; to compile and print teaching materials, syllabus for teaching and learning.
- To carry out the educational activities of the University including: establishing new disciplines and designing curriculum, designing educational plans and schedules; managing teaching activities and evaluating the quality of education, editing and publishing textbooks ; managing enrollment activities such as qualification upgrading education, the second university degree, client contract education program, improving capabilities of staff and lecturers through training courses, seminars and study visit etc; predicting and calculating the teaching volume annually.
- Solving problems which are belonging to functions of the office; summing up and submitting issues which are not belong to functions of the office to the rector board.
- The training division manages part-time education and cooperates with other training agencies to establish and manage irregular programs under the regulations of Ministry of Education, Thai Nguyen University and TUAF.
2. Achievements:
- Certificate of merit of Minister of Ministry of Education in 2004 about science research and
- Excellent labor Collective in 2006-2007; 2007-2008; 2008-2009; 2009-2010.
III. Division of Postgraduate Training
1. Functions
Functions are consulting for Rector about postgraduate training management and performing the training management and postgraduate training within responsibility and authority .
2. Missions
- To develop projects of establishing new majors and planning to develop training levels, graduate training program towards the quality standards
- To develop curriculum, lectures, and learning and research materials; determine the knowledge structure at graduate levels in order to meet the requirements of the professional training areas; organizing and participating in managing projects for Graduate Training.
- To make plans and monitor the teaching, learning and research by semester and academic year for graduate students; set up schedules and recording notes of the teaching activities of the lecturers and learning activities of students; announce plans and teaching duties for faculties, departments, and lecturers.
- To organize examinations and manage the results of courses and subjects. Storage: the curriculum vitae of graduate students, PhD students, documents, and exam papers according to the current university statutes.
- To examine and evaluate the implementation of postgraduate dissertations of; Co-ordinate with specialized departments to set up professional activities for postgraduate and PhD students.
- To propose the establishment of master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation committee under regulations of postgraduate education; organize defense for master’s thesis and doctoral dissertations under regulations.
- To Organize professional activities for staffs and lecturers to update knowledge and improve professional competence
- To develop exchange programs with domestic and foreign universities and academies in graduate training under government regulations; To organize and issue certificate for postgraduate training courses
- To join with the postgraduate admission committee of Thai Nguyen University: propose and implement enrolment targets. Announce and receive records to enroll into postgraduate majors and permitted training levels.
- To receive and handle all kinds of documents, files, and requests related to postgraduate training and education.
- To develop annual revenues and expenses plan of postgraduate education and report implementation plans; Develop supplement plans of ad facilities, development of teaching materials, support the training and research; perform the general operations of postgraduate training, statistics, and promptly report as required by superiors and the university.
- To effectively manage and allocate workforce, material facilities and other equipment provided by the university
3. Training programs
- Master’s Programs in Agricultural Science includes following majors: Agronomy (1993), Animal Husbandry (1993), Veterinary Medicine (2002), Forestry (Sylviculture) (2005), Land management (2008), Environmental Science (2009), and Rural Development (2011).
- Doctoral Programs of Agriculture includes following majors: Agronomy (1998), Animal Husbandry (1998), Veterinary Parasitology (2008), Veterinary Microorganism (2008), Nutrition and Food in Husbandry (2008), Sylviculture (2008), and Land Management (2012).
4. Scale of training
- Master’s degrees: 500-600 students.
- Research students’ programs: 50-60 students.
5. International Cooperative Activities:
The department has international relationships in postgraduate education and exchange specialists with Nam Kinh University (China), Sydney University of Technology (Australia), and some universities in Germany, the Netherlands and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
6. Education Results and Rewards
- Master’s Training: 686 MScs were trained up to 2011.
- Doctoral Training: 28 PhDs were trained up to 2011.
- Annually achieve rewards for Excellent Labour Division.
- A model of advanced division for 5 years from 2000 to 2004.
- Recipient of the Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for the academic years 2001-2002; 2003-2004 and 2006-2007.
- Recipient of the Certificate of Merit of the Vietnamese Education Union for the academic years 2000-2001, 2001-2002
