RECOFTC is an international organization which was founded in 1987. Its mission is to enhance the capacity at all levels in assisting the people of the Asia-Pacific region to develop community forestry and manage forest resources for optimum social, economic, and environmental benefits. Its activities are focused on the following fields such as: Improving rural livelihoods, enhancing community governance and empowerment, transforming forest-related conflict, protecting and enhancing the environment¸ and helping to fight climate change.
The meeting was actively participated by Dr. Tran Van Dien – Rector of TUAF, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Binh – Head of Science and International Affairs Department, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho – Deputy Head of Science and International Affairs Department, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha – Director of Northern Mountainous Forestry Research Center, Dr. Nguyen Quang Tan – RECOFTC Vietnam country program coordinator, Mr. Luong Quang Hung – Forestry Coordinator, and Ms. Phung Thi Thanh Xuan – PR Staff.
During the meeting, TUAF & RECOFTC reached a consensus on cooperative activities for 2014 such as: to organize a regional forum in Thai Nguyen; to provide training for forestry faculty; to conduct research projects related to livelihood; and to make a suggestion to Forest Protection and Development Law.
