The 45th Anniversary celebration of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry and the ceremony of receiving the First Class Labor Medal

On November 15, Thai Nguyen university of Agriculture and Forestry solemnly celebrated the 45th anniversary of the foundation (1970-2015) and received the First Class Labor Medal.

Attending the ceremony, there were the presence of: Mr. Bui Quang Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Planning and Investment; Mr. Nguyen Minh Quang - Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, member of Standing Committee of National Assembly; Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong - Member Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Defence, Deputy Chief of the Vietnam People's Army; Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang - Military Commander Region I; Pham Manh Hung - Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Do Van Chien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs; Mr.Tran Van Tung - Deputy Minister of Vietnam Ministry of Science & Technology; Mr. Truong Xuan Cu - Deputy Chief of the northwest steering committee; Mr. Ha Phuc Mich - Chairman of Organic Agriculture Association Vietnam, former Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association.

The leader representatives from the Office of the President, the Office of the Government, the Office of the Central Emulation and Reward, and many departments, institutes and agencies under the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Agriculture Rural Development, Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF) is one of the members of Thai Nguyen University. It was initially founded as Thai Nguyen College of Agricultural Technology on September 19, 1970. In 1994, under the decision No.31/CP, it became Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry. For 45 years of constant transformation and growth, TUAF has been recognized as the center for training, scientific research and technology transfer in agriculture, forestry, environmental and resource management, and rural development in the midland and northern mountainous provinces.

Annually, we offer admissions to more than 3000 undergraduate students and about 400 graduate fellows, maintaining around 13,000 to 14,000 students and fellows. The number of students studying in schools with more than 50% from ethnic minority in northern mountainous provinces.

We have provided the country with 30.000 engineers, bachelors and more than 1000 qualified masters and doctorate degree holders and thousands of skilful local staff in the fields of agriculture and forestry. At present, TUAF is composed of nearly 600 staffs, with 320 teaching staffs in which more than 100 are holders of doctorate degrees (07 Professors and 30 Associate Professors), the remaining teaching staff are masters degree holders. By 2015, we hope that the number of staff with doctorate degree holders would account for more than 35%, and more than15% Professors and Associate Professors, in which more than 170 lecturers were trained in the developed countries of the world like USA, UK, Canada, France, Australia, Japan ...

During the period 2010-2015 with vision 2030, TUAF has witnessed significant development in the areas of scientific research and technology transfer contributing to the socio-economic development of the local. In the past 5 years, the university has implemented 21 State Approved projects, 123 Ministry Approved projects, 497 University Approved projects and 103 technology transfer programs with more than 140 billion VND of capital. Especially, there were 5 protocol assignments in collaboration with China, Japan, Korea, USA, and Taiwan partners. 59 articles were published in the international journals and 458 articles in Vietnamese scientific journal. Some of the important products of TUAF are NTT (organic fertilizer), cassava varieties (KM419, HL2004-28), Elisa kits, grafted tomatoes, plant genetic resources, medical plants, etc.

Appreciate and acknowledge the contribution of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, the Party, the State has awarded to the university many honors: First Class, Second Class and Third Class Labor Medal, Third class of Independent Medal; In 2013, the university was awarded the Labor Hero Title in the renovation. On August 12, 2015, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed the Decision of awarding the First Class Labor Medal (2nd time) for the university for outstanding achievements in education and training, contributing to the cause of building socialism and national defense. At the ceremony, as authorized by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Manh Hung was respectfully mounted First Class Labor Medal to the traditional flag of the TUAF.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training has praised the efforts of the university for 45 years and suggest that the university should continue to effective implement the Resolution No. 29 of the Central Executive Committee XI on “Innovation fundamental, comprehensive education and training, to meet the requirements of industrialization - modernization in economic conditions, market-oriented society neo and international integration”. In which, the university need to focus on resources and solutions to enhance the quality of training, promote application of scientific research, strengthen international cooperation to support training activities, improve the quality of research, expand apprenticeships for students and fellows.

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dien awarded the certificate diamond sponsor of the program for Dr. Tran Duc Hanh - Chairman of the Board, CEO of Duc Hanh BMG group that has funded 5 billion VND.
