On April 12, 2018, within the framework of Aus4skill project, Dr. Howard Nicholas - La Trobe University, Australia and the representatives of Aus4skill office in Hanoi had a meeting with leaders of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture & Forestry and staffs who will participate in the Course “Strengthened Teachers’ Academic Support for Students from Disadvantaged Groups”.
At the meeting, TUAF presented an Introduction to the University including Background, key strengths and strategic priorities of the university; Key characteristics of staff and students; Resources available to support university staff working on project activities; Strengths and challenges in teaching students from disadvantaged backgrounds; Incentives available to support innovative teaching; and Relationships with the surrounding communities.
Two parties also discussed on some topics such as (1) Overview of staff and student characteristics relevant to the project, e.g. gender, ethnic and national status, socioeconomic status, disability status; (2) Overview of employment opportunities and employment rates for graduates of the University; and (3) Key issues in moving toward autonomy, e.g. competition from other universities, research strengths .
