Research project focuses on variety selection of sweet sorghum with high yields of sugar, good disease resistance, and consistent with ecological conditions and cultivation of the northern mountainous province. Studying about economic sociology in order to determine the economic efficiency and variety suitability of sweet sorghum in replacing agricultural crops that is low economic efficiency in the northern mountainous province of Vietnam. There are a number of specialist from the University of Agriculture and Forestry, EarthNote Co. Ltd, Daiwa and the University of the Ryukyus, Japan join in this project.
Project-phase 1 duration:18 months starting from May 3/2011 to 10/2012. Based on results of Phase 1 project will be used to expand production and create favourable conditions for foreign companies to build bioethanol plant in which materials mainly used from sweet sorghum to replace cassava in Vietnam currently.
Project purposes: Raising the quality of famers’ life through a stable income by building concentrated material farm for bioethanol production and contributing to increase ethanol production in Vietnam the next few years, contributing to the implementation of project namely “Scheme for development of biofuel up to 2015 with a vision to 2025 of the Prime Minister”
