Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry held a Seminar on "Genetic technology in soybean breeding" on 30 Dec, 2020. The workshop was attended by the Office of research and International Affair, the Institute of Agricultural Genetics, staff and students from the Faculty of Biotechnology & Food Technology and Faculty of Agronomy.
From 2010 to present, Division of Biotechnology, Faculty of Biotechnology & Food Technology has conducted an assessment of domestic soybean materials and collaborated with research groups in Korea to apply genetic engineering to improve Some traits for Vietnamese soybean varieties aiming to improve yield and resistance to pests. The initial results created a mutant Cry1Ac soybean line that was resistant to leaf-eating pests, fruit borer and a number of transgenic lines with high Chlorophyl content. This is part of the results of the protocol cooperation project on the breeding of transgenic soybeans, code NDT.49KR/18.
Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Faculty of Biotechnology & Food Technology presents the topic "Genetic technology in Soybean Breeding"
In addition, scientists exchanged and discussed issues related to genetically modified soybeans, the current limitations of soybean cultivation in the Northern mountainous areas.
