In recent years, TUAF witnessed significant development in the areas of scientific research and technology transfer contributing to the socio-economic development of the local. In the past 05 years, the university has implemented 21 State Approved projects, 123 Ministry Approved projects, 497 University Approved projects and 103 technology transfer programs with 143.88 billion VND of capital. During the period 2010-2015, there were 05 protocol assignments in collaboration with China, Japan, Korea, USA, and Taiwan partners. It published 59 articles in the international journals and 458 articles in Vietnamese scientific journal. Some of the important products of TUAF are NTT (organic fertilizer), cassava varieties (KM419, HL2004-28), Elisa kits, grafted tomatoes, plant genetic resources, medical plants, etc.

At the meeting, participants discussed the strategy for science and technology development in the 2015-2020 period with specific objectives and solutions. Each year, TUAF will conduct 5-7 State Approved projects, 10-15 Ministry Approved projects, 50-100 University Approved projects and 10 technology transfer programs. The total expenditure is predicted around 52 billion VND/year. In addition, there will be 3-5 international projects with 200.000 – 300.000 USD of capital and at least 05 science products. Next 05 years, TUAF will publish 50-100 articles in international journals and 600-800 in Vietnamese journals. In order to achieve the targets, the attendees proposed measures regarding organization, policies and finance. The prioritized research fields will include crop science, animal husbandry, forestry, rural extension & development, environment, biotechnology and food technology.
