During the visit, Dr. Tran Van Dien – Rector of TUAF together with leaders of supporting offices and centers had a meeting with NPUST delegation on the possibility of collaboration endeavor. At the outset of the meeting, the representative presented a brief introduction about TUAF and proposed potential fields of cooperation between TUAF & NPUST such as to: strengthen human capacity for TUAF; strengthen human capacity for 16 Northern Mountainous Provinces; exchange student; and Joint research project. The two parties agreed that TUAF will send students, faculties and staffs from the 16 Northern Mountainous Provinces to study at NPUST. In this agreement, TUAF students can have 01-02 semesters study in Taiwan.
Dr. Yuan Kang Guu stated that at present the number of international students in NPUST is more than 5% of the total student population. They came from 42 countries all over the world. He stated further that he is hoping that the cooperation between two universities will offer more opportunities to TUAF staff & students to study in Taiwan. Moreover, he said that during the Ph.D. study, TUAF staff can spend 02 years at TUAF and 02 years at NPUST for dissertation completion. Furthermore, Dr. Guu said that annually they spend a lot of money on research projects especially the project for young scientists. In an effort to support TUAF in training lecturers and young scientists, the NPUST President expressed his desire to offer scholarships for TUAF staff & students.
Moreover, Dr. Guu also suggested establishing TUAF – NPUST - Lao trilateral partnership cooperation in academic trainings.
The meeting concluded with concurrence of building a strong and sustainable collaborative effort between the two parties.
