Australian Ambassador to Vietnam HE Hugh Borrowman visits TUAF

The launching ceremony of the national campaign on “Clean up the world” anchored on the theme “Take action for a waste-free environment” was organized in Thai Nguyen Province on September 24, 2014. His Excellency Hugh Borrowman – Australian Ambassador to Vietnam graced the occasion and thereafter he had a working visit to Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture & Forestry.

HE Hugh Borrowman was given a warm welcome by the TUAF officials. The meeting with HE Hugh Barrowman was attended by Dr. Tran Van Dien – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Phung – Vice Rector, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho – Vice Director, Science & International Affairs Office, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Hung – Director of International Training and Development Center and a group of researchers of the project funded by Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

On behalf of TUAF, Dr. Tran Van Dien extended his warmest greetings to the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam and informed him that twelve (12) TUAF staff have already graduated from Australian Universities and at present five (05) TUAF staff are still studying in universities in Australia. He expresses his high hopes that the Ambassador will support TUAF to further its cooperation with Australian Universities/Institutions & Organizations.

At the meeting, the TUAF representative presented an introduction of TUAF in terms of training, scientific research & transfer technology and international cooperation, including the outcome of the project “Overcoming technical and market constraints to the emergence of profitable beef enterprises in the North-Western highlands of Vietnam” which was funded by ACIAR.

Last but not least, HE Hugh Borrowman expressed his thanks for the warm welcome accorded to him by the officials of TUAF and likewise he was much elated and honored as the first Australian Ambassador to visit TUAF. He stated that Australia has more than forty (40) years of cooperation experience with the ASEAN in the field of agriculture. In addition, he expressed with distinct honor and pride that Australian is a destination of many Vietnamese students. The Ambassador vowed his strongly support on the international cooperation between TUAF and Australian partners. Moreover, he aired his strong appreciation to the project “Overcoming technical and market constraints to the emergence of profitable beef enterprises in the North-Western highlands of Vietnam )” as a practical research.
