First Vietnam National Forum on Community Forestry held

On the occasion of the First Vietnam National Forum on Community Forestry which was hosted by the Center for People & Forest (RECOFTC) in collaboration with Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture & Forestry (TUAF), the delegation of RECOFTC had a meeting with the leaders of TUAF on April 22, 2014.

The meeting was attended by: Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Ngoan – Vice Rector, TUAF, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho – Vice Director, Science & International Affairs Office; Dr. Dam Van Vinh – Vice Dean of Forestry Faculty, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha - Director of The Northern Mountainous Forestry Research Center, Dr. Nguyen Quang Tan – Vietnam Country Coordinator, RECOFTC; Mr. Jame Bampton – Manager, Program Coordination, Monitoring, and Evaluation, Ms. Caroline Liou – Manager, Strategic Communication, and Mr. Toon De Bruyn – Senior Staff.

At the meeting, the two parties discussed together issues on: TOT course for TUAF faculty in the field of Community Forestry; Submission of joint project to call for international funds; Cooperation in the compilation of teaching material in the field of Community Forestry.

During the meeting with RECOFTC delegation, Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Ngoan stated that TUAF has implemented many projects related to forestry, and livelihoods for ethnic minorities with high hopes that the two sides will have many cooperation programs in the above mentioned field through the years.
