In order to enhance the cooperation in the fields of education & training, scientific research between Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia & Thai Nguyen University in general and members of Thai Nguyen University in particular, a meeting was held between the delegates of ECU represented by Prof. Ken Greenwood - Dean of Faculty Health, Science and Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrea Hinwood - Head of School of Natural Sciences and Dr. David Blake - Lecturer of School of Natural Sciences and the TUAF officials headed by Dr. Tran Van Dien – Rector of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture & Forestry (TUAF) on October 01, 2014.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Tran Van Dien – Rector of TUAF extended his warm welcome to ECU delegation. He said that the visit will definitely strengthen the cooperation in the field of education & training between the two universities. Further, he also suggested some potential fields for the effective cooperation between the two sides, namely: research cooperation, Student & Faculty exchange, particularly in sending TUAF staff who are recipients of 911 scholarships to study at ECU.
Based on records concerning the development of TUAF & ECU, the leaders of the two universities exchanged ideas in the promotion of the collaboration such as joint offering of Bachelor Program major in Sustainable Development; sending TUAF staff to ECU as well as admitting ECU students to TUAF for academic exchange; and joint research projects. Moreover, Dr. Andrea Hinwood provided information on ECU scholarship programs for International Students. She also stressed that ECU will provide financial support to potential TUAF scientists in developing research proposals at ECU before the implementation of the research projects in Vietnam.
