Also in attendance were Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho – Vice Director of the Science & International Relations Department, Dr. Hoang Thị Bich Thao – Vice Director of the International Training & Development Center, Dr. Nguyen Van Duy – Vice Dean of the Biotechnology & Food Technology Faculty (FBFT) and several researchers.
In his address, Dr. Dien identified that in Vietnam, seventy percent of households are involved in agricultural production. He stated that due to this fact agricultural biotechnology application is a priority. He expressed hope that in the context of a good bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Japan and the experience of KU in the field of Biotechnology, our universities will strengthen their cooperation in the aforementioned field. Dr. Dien proposed KU provide more graduate scholarships for TUAF students and encouraged sending KU scientist to TUAF for academic exchange.
Prof. Ken Matsuoka was given a brief introduction of TUAF and FBFT including the number of students, training programs offered, areas of scientific research and international relations. Prof. Ken also provided an introduction of KU and his research interests and later discussed joint research projects between TUAF & KU with FBFT scientists
